ICIJ: Beijing’s Global Campaign Against Dissent Continues

One year after the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) published its landmark China Targets investigation, a follow-up report finds that China’s campaign of transnational repression continues to expand. Drawing on new findings from Freedom House and testimonies from affected communities, the article documents how Beijing continues to target Uyghurs, Tibetans, Hong Kong activists, dissidents, and other critics living abroad through surveillance, intimidation, harassment, and pressure on family members.
