The Center for Uyghur Studies (CUS) has made the Arabic and Bahasa Indonesia editions of “Menace: China’s Colonization of the Islamic World and Uyghur Genocide” available online in digital format.
Written by CUS Executive Director Abdulhakim Idris, the book examines the CCP’s systematic persecution of the Uyghur people and its expanding political and economic influence across the Islamic world. It explores how the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has deepened many Muslim-majority countries’ dependence on China and contributed to their silence over the Uyghur genocide.
The Arabic edition, titled “الخطر القادم من الشرق: الاستعمار الصيني للعالم الإسلامي والإبادة الجماعية لعالم الأويغور,” was previously published in print in 2023. Making it available online will allow the book to reach a broader Arabic-speaking audience and contribute to greater awareness of the plight of the Uyghurs across the Middle East and North Africa.
The Bahasa Indonesia edition, titled “Uyghur, China, dan Ekonomi Politik Global,” was also previously published in print in Indonesia. Its digital publication will make the book more accessible to readers in Indonesia and the wider Southeast Asian region, where China’s influence, including through BRI projects, has continued to grow and public awareness of the Uyghur genocide remains particularly important.
Through these new digital editions, CUS aims to provide readers, researchers, journalists, religious leaders, and civil society organizations with an accessible resource on the Uyghur genocide, China’s war on Islam, and the wider implications of the CCP’s policies and colonial ambitions.
The book’s digital editions are now available in Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, and Malay. Print editions are also available in English and Turkish.
