The Center for Uyghur Studies (CUS) is pleased to present the Voice of Turkistan magazine collection in Arabic, a curated compilation of selected articles from the historic “Voice of Turkistan” magazine published in Cairo, Egypt between 1953 and 1957. The magazine represented one of the rare media initiatives that sought to convey the voice of Uyghur people to the broader Islamic world during a period marked by international silence and limited awareness of the Uyghur people’s plight.

Published in the aftermath of the Chinese Communist takeover of East Turkistan, the magazine emerged at a critical historical moment when repressive policies aimed to erase the religious and cultural identity of the Uyghur people. At a time when many Muslim-majority countries were preoccupied with their own political struggles, “Voice of Turkistan” served as a platform led by Uyghur intellectuals in exile, most notably Ibrahim Wasil Turkistani, who documented their history, articulated their political aspirations, and raised awareness about their cause.

By republishing and making this magazine collection available to a new generation of readers, CUS aims to revive an important intellectual and historical legacy more than seventy years after its initial publication. The magazine stands as a historical record of a generation of Uyghur thinkers and activists who sought to preserve their people’s identity and bring their cause to the world.

The “Voice of Turkistan” collection is now available to read and download here through the Center for Uyghur Studies’ Arabic website.
